RPS Zolotaya Korona: 2009 results
Russian payment system Zolotaya Korona (literally Golden Crown) summarized results of 2009 activities. As of January 1, 2010, there were 22.4 million cards issued within all Zolotaya Korona product lines. Emission growth was 49% more than in 2008. The total turnover in the System reached $13.86 billion (415.8 billion rubles)*. Altogether during 2009 there were 516 million transactions registered in the System that is 54% more than the year before.

RPS Zolotaya Korona provides retail services that are highly demanded on the market, including cashless payments for products and in public transportation, distribution of social benefits to citizens, remote account management, Internet and mobile payments, money transfers without an account, and ATM cash advance.

As of January 1, 2010, the number of Zolotaya Korona bank cards exceeded 6.7 million, emission growth for the accounting period was 9%. The system was joined by OAO FinansKreditBank, Bank Kyrgyzstan (Bishkek, Kirgizia), JSCB Express (Makhachkala). The number of ATMs (including Cash-ins) accepting Zolotaya Korona cards increased by 17%. As part of acquiring expansion strategy, in 2009 Zolotaya Korona launched joint project with "METRO Cash & Carry" for Zolotaya Korona cards to be accepted in METRO stores in Omsk and Krasnodar; project of integration with ATM network of Russian Standard Bank was launched.

One of the most perspective business directions of RPS Zolotaya Korona is the development of card for social sphere and public transport. Growth of Social and Transport Cards emission was 88%; 1.6 million citizens in Chelyabinsk, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Orenburg, Altay oblasts, Samara use Transport cards for payments in public transportation and receipt of social benefits. Around 27 million people used Zolotaya Korona cards each month; total number of trips reached 300 million in 2009 (91% growth); total turnover increased by 89%.

Zolotaya Korona Ц Money Transfers demonstrated a dynamic growth. According to CB RF, the market share of Zolotaya Korona grew from 4% in 1Q 2009 to 10% in 3Q 2009**. 63% of all transfers were in rubles, 37% in other currencies. The number of transfers in the system in 2009 exceeded 2 million operations which is 4.4 times more than in 2008.

48 new banks of Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Moldova that have wide networks connected to Zolotaya Korona Ц Money Transfers service. Currently 457 self-service devices accept transfers using Sender Card. The system network reached 13 000 points of service.

In 2009 Zolotaya Korona started a new project of the Federal level Ц Zolotaya Korona Ц Money Transfers are offered in "Svyaznoi" network (over 1 800 points of service in RF). High rate of development allowed "AltTelecom" and "Svyaznoi" enter TOP-5 participants of Zolotaya Korona Ц Money Transfers by turnover by the end of the year: monthly turnover of transfers form these networks reached $45 million (1 350 million rubles). This project does not have counterparts on the Russian and CIS markets.

In 2009 the technological integration between Zolotaya Korona Ц Money Transfer and MoneyGram International (one of the leader in international money transfers) was completed. Now Zolotaya Korona participants have an access to over 190 countries "from a single window" or interface.

Innovative approach and cutting-edge technologies made an exceptional breakthrough on the market: the System turnover increased 4-fold, although the market itself had a 30% decrease.
